Intensity & Complexity.

I like seeing beauty or meaning in the simplest objects or things, I feel like simplicity always has the most to say so I alway take pictures of "ordinary" and try to explain how it's extraordinary. Even in simple pictures there's significant details that many don't pay attention to, and my pictures require some element of thinking and investigating. I love bold statements in pictures too, so every picture I take should make you feel something and have an opinion about it.
I used contrast, brightness and the green curves to enhance the green grass and the contrast with the water. I took this at my Grandpa's pond. it's my favorite place in the world.
I used the sepia effect and contrast. I also added more red to the curve of the picture to make the leaves look more vibrant. I took this while hiking at Bear Butte.
I used brightness and contrast and the warming effect to make the man stand out more in the picture. I took this in my auntie's art studio. She has a lot of random paintings on shelves and tables.
I used contrast and brightness. I didn't want to edit this picture that much because her eye is so beautiful already :) I took this at the bottom of the side stairs here at the high school.
I used selective sepia and the dodge tool for my babygirl because her dress color is beautiful and I wanted that to be the focus:) I took this in my Grandma's living room.
I used contrast, brightness and and the red channel mixer to its maximum. I took this in my room.
I used the black and white effect and contrast. I took this hiking at Bear Butte.

I used contrast, brightness and warming filter effect. I took this at Bear Butte.

I used contrast, brightness and moved the red curve up. I took this on the side of the heritage center.

I took this at the Bonfire. I just changed the brightness and contrast.

"I Always Wanted to be an American Indian" Article

I liked some areas of the article, especially the section about the Reservation being home and how they wouldn't want to be from anywhere else. The pictures don't really capture what the Reservation is though, they look random and the photographs of the kids is dull. Maybe if the pictures matched what the article was saying at that point would make it seem more epic and create a bigger impact on the reader. I actually didn't pay attention to the pictures at all, which is rare because usually a picture says more than a description ever could, but this didn't do the article justice.

:) Perrrrty Photos.

My mom was doing a photoshoot with a close friend of hers, and at the last minute she asked if he could take one of me and her. There aren't that many pictures of just the two of us, and i love this one because it shows how close we are. Ever since i was born it's always been us against the world, growing and learning together. She always held me when i was feeling weak and showered me with affection when i felt alone. this picture defines our relationship.
I took this one myself, and i love it because it captured my baby cousin's real smile. His crooked grin always brightens my day and i just have to look at this picture to make me feel better. i love how the little gap between his teeth is the center of the picture, because to me thats his most charming feature and he wins everyone over with that smile.

This was at my mom's wedding this past summer, and it meant a lot to my mom that my grandpa was there for her. Moments like these are rare because it seems like my Gramps is always on the move, so doing the father-daughter dance meant he was willing to slow his life to almost a hault for this dance.

ElyssaSierraCelineConcha.

I was my mom's 21st birthday present, born the day before her birthday. I grew up being the tiniest kid in the family, with midget practically becoming my middle name. Being the smallest made me the loudest, and moving to a lot of different places helped me learn how to talk to people easily. I was a Santa Fe baby until 2nd grade, then ABQ became my new home until freshman year when I moved here. annnnnd I love graphic design because it's a really cool way of expressing yourself artistically.

Native American Photography Article

I like the article because it isn't solely about negative statements towards white people, but gives a positive outlook on how Native's are getting more involved in representing our cultures through art. The article talks about a few successful Native artists that provides hope for the readers. It states that most opinions of Native Americans have been developed due to the way media portrays us. It's vitally important we start speaking up about our people and different cultures. I also like how the article constantly pushes how important art is. More people pay attention to art because it's beautiful and states more than words. The typical stereotype of Natives needs to be changed, and who better to change that then us? :)
