Gwen Stefani Music Video
Natives are always going to be offended by white people trying to wear our traditional clothing. Even if the person's intentions were totally innocent, people are going to bash on it no matter what. I don't like when celebrities inappropriately wear head dresses and try to use our culture as a way of promoting their work, but the kind of attention this is getting may be a positive outcome. Ignorant people are everywhere, and Gwen Stefani may be one of them. Maybe she was just taking orders and doing what she was told. The creators of this music videos may be the actual racist people. I'm offended by what she did, but I'm not going to make accusations before I know all the facts.

Favorite Music Video
.
Article Response
Honestly i don't think music is to blame for all the teen violence and pregnancy. If it is then people have no minds of their own to be influenced that easily. I believe music helps comfort people. I always listen to music if im happy, sad, angry, etc. I love that their are so many types of songs that fit my multiple moods. Music videos don't influence me at all, I'm not sure about other teens though. I grew up to watching those "negative" music videos and I never cared for it.

Advertisement, yo ;)
My advertisement is for Black Hills Tattoo, and I used a picture of Jasa's tattoo and one of mine because that's where we got ours done. I love the vivid colors Jasa's tattoo has so I wanted hers to be the main picture to capture attention, and i wanted mine to be less in focus so the person looking at it takes more time to examine the advertisement, and i like what both mine and jasa's tattoos say.

Blog Numero Dossss.
I agree that it's kind of suckish that the media focuses on only the negative parts of the Reservation. I agree that there are some bad parts, but there are a lot of people who dedicate their lives to helping the Rez. We do get a lot of money due to the sympathy the rest of the nation feels for us, but they have the right to know we aren't just pathetic people that can't do anything for ourselves. We're not all a waste. We do need a lot of attention from the government so it's good that they're paying attention to us finally, but maybe there should be a TV special on students that are trying to create a positive change to Pine Ridge. :)

Psychological Article and Teen Ridicule Response
Numero Uno.
Sooooo, I like the first article because it's true. All humans are the same when it come to remembering advertisements and all that. Once a person sees something thats attractive to them, it's immediately their main focus. Once the ad has our attention we try comprehending what the ad is trying to get across. Once the ad has a catchy phrase, it's automatically drilled into our brains. I 100% believe this article is true.
Numero Dos.
The whole teen ridicule article wasn't that interesting, and not particularly true for me. Nowadays teens are proud of who they are and where they come from. Being unique is popular in our generation. No one cares if you have expensive clothes, as long as they're awesome it's fine. What teens mainly care about is how you present yourself to others. Being poor has nothing to do with your personality and if you're a badass or not. Maybe it's just my school, but the pressure to be popular and the typical snobby rich kid is overrated.

Intensity & Complexity.
I like seeing beauty or meaning in the simplest objects or things, I feel like simplicity always has the most to say so I alway take pictures of "ordinary" and try to explain how it's extraordinary. Even in simple pictures there's significant details that many don't pay attention to, and my pictures require some element of thinking and investigating. I love bold statements in pictures too, so every picture I take should make you feel something and have an opinion about it.
I used contrast, brightness and the green curves to enhance the green grass and the contrast with the water. I took this at my Grandpa's pond. it's my favorite place in the world.
I used the sepia effect and contrast. I also added more red to the curve of the picture to make the leaves look more vibrant. I took this while hiking at Bear Butte.
I used brightness and contrast and the warming effect to make the man stand out more in the picture. I took this in my auntie's art studio. She has a lot of random paintings on shelves and tables.

I used contrast and brightness. I didn't want to edit this picture that much because her eye is so beautiful already :) I took this at the bottom of the side stairs here at the high school.
I used selective sepia and the dodge tool for my babygirl because her dress color is beautiful and I wanted that to be the focus:) I took this in my Grandma's living room.
I used contrast, brightness and and the red channel mixer to its maximum. I took this in my room.
I used the black and white effect and contrast. I took this hiking at Bear Butte.

"I Always Wanted to be an American Indian" Article
I liked some areas of the article, especially the section about the Reservation being home and how they wouldn't want to be from anywhere else. The pictures don't really capture what the Reservation is though, they look random and the photographs of the kids is dull. Maybe if the pictures matched what the article was saying at that point would make it seem more epic and create a bigger impact on the reader. I actually didn't pay attention to the pictures at all, which is rare because usually a picture says more than a description ever could, but this didn't do the article justice.

:) Perrrrty Photos.
My mom was doing a photoshoot with a close friend of hers, and at the last minute she asked if he could take one of me and her. There aren't that many pictures of just the two of us, and i love this one because it shows how close we are. Ever since i was born it's always been us against the world, growing and learning together. She always held me when i was feeling weak and showered me with affection when i felt alone. this picture defines our relationship.
This was at my mom's wedding this past summer, and it meant a lot to my mom that my grandpa was there for her. Moments like these are rare because it seems like my Gramps is always on the move, so doing the father-daughter dance meant he was willing to slow his life to almost a hault for this dance.
I took this one myself, and i love it because it captured my baby cousin's real smile. His crooked grin always brightens my day and i just have to look at this picture to make me feel better. i love how the little gap between his teeth is the center of the picture, because to me thats his most charming feature and he wins everyone over with that smile.

ElyssaSierraCelineConcha.
I was my mom's 21st birthday present, born the day before her birthday. I grew up being the tiniest kid in the family, with midget practically becoming my middle name. Being the smallest made me the loudest, and moving to a lot of different places helped me learn how to talk to people easily. I was a Santa Fe baby until 2nd grade, then ABQ became my new home until freshman year when I moved here. annnnnd I love graphic design because it's a really cool way of expressing yourself artistically.

Native American Photography Article
I like the article because it isn't solely about negative statements towards white people, but gives a positive outlook on how Native's are getting more involved in representing our cultures through art. The article talks about a few successful Native artists that provides hope for the readers. It states that most opinions of Native Americans have been developed due to the way media portrays us. It's vitally important we start speaking up about our people and different cultures. I also like how the article constantly pushes how important art is. More people pay attention to art because it's beautiful and states more than words. The typical stereotype of Natives needs to be changed, and who better to change that then us? :)
